Canadian Walleye The Eaters Choice

Canadian Walleye fishing is said to be the most popular freshwater sport fishing in this part of the world. Walleye is a great choice for game fishing because it is not only a catch that puts much of a fight but also a good tasting fish. Walleyes, also called pickerel or yellow pickerel, are commonly seen in Canada and other northern part of the U.S. It is a freshwater perciform fish similar to the European pikeperch. It is called at times yellow walleye to differentiate it from the blue walleye. They have fantastic eyes that gather and reflect light, hence the name.

When doing Canadian walleye fishing, the following tips may be helpful: It would be good not to make any movement that would cause the water to move when the walleye is approaching the bait. Walleyes are short strikers and may therefore hit the bait but is not hooked. To prevent this from happening, the lure and line combination should be able to decrease the resistance of the walleye. To do this, you should use light line, about 4 to 6 pound test for this is easily sucked by the walleye. Also, bounce the bait to allow the fish to inhale the bait more. Next, you should shorten the stroke. Offering a bigger bite may also help. Next is by pumping a crank with crankbaits. Last tip would be to troll with the flow for it may impart that needed slight slack in the line. With the above tips, it would be very unlikely for you not to enjoy that Canadian walleye fishing adventure!
