Minnows The Best Bait You Can Catch

The predator is always out for the smaller prey. It is this natural course that anglers believe in whenever they go fishing with minnows. Minnows are conveniently small and delectable to big species of crappies and walleyes, and this make them one of the favorite baits used by most fishermen.
Functioning as a fishing bait, a minnow is hooked at its back portion, just slightly above the dorsal fin. This is done with a lot of caution as puncturing the minnow’s spine will paralyze it. Predators prefer live minnows and a natural movement of a live fish is effective in getting their attention. Hooking the minnow through the tail is also an effective way to let this bait swim naturally.
In carrying minnows around, it is best to makes use of buckets filled with cool water. Minnows thrive in cool settings and it would be best to avoid leaving the bucket in the hot sun. Placing a sealed plastic filled with cubed ice will also help keep the temperature low.
These small fish baits can easily be gathered by using a trap or a seine net. A minnow trap has small hole openings on two ends which are placed with food such as bread pieces. Once inside, these minnows will be funneled into the trap. The seine net, on the other hand, traps the minnows by pushing the nets against the current.
Securing a good catch largely depends on the right kind of bait. Fishing with minnows is an ideal set up for attracting the bigger fish.
