Being a predator and an omnivorous animal, it would gooble up whatever bait you will dangle. Catching smallmouth bass, however, is no easy task. If you are smallmouth bass fishing in shallow waters like shoals, yellow or white spinner baits and the use of crank baits may not work. It is recommended to use crayfish-looking baits since bass fishes are known to associate with them. Using live baits may also work. A big work on a brass hook may get good results.
